Tapan “2.0” Rises After Heart Valve Surgery!
By Adam Pick on August 17, 2020
It never gets old. The joy. The happiness. That special feeling when I open my email and see a patient success story from the HeartValveSurgery.com community.
This time… Tapan Mehta, from Northern California, brought a smile to my face. As he approaches his fifth anniversary after heart valve surgery, here is what Tapan wrote to me:
Hi Adam,
I hope this note finds you and the family well.
We last spoke almost five years ago as I was getting ready for my aortic valve replacement surgery. Yes, I’m coming up on 5 years next month!
It’s hard to believe how fast the time has gone by. I continue to read every email that you send out. I cannot thank you enough of all the work that you have put in over the years and continue to do so for patients – like us – who are going through some of the toughest decisions of their lives.
I have enjoyed life and continue to enjoy every single day since my surgery. I jokingly call myself “Tapan v2.0” after my surgery. 🙂
Perspective on life after surgery has been very positive. Things that would have typically rattled me before my operation, don’t bother me anymore. Plus, daily meditation does help.
Today, I am in the best shape of my life as I continue to run, bike, hike, you name it. In fact, I just did a half-marathon and 35-mile bike ride over the past week. Surgery has not stopped me in doing things that I had dreaded.
I consider myself very lucky and very blessed. I try to “pay it forward” in any way I can. So you know, I have counseled several patients who were referred to me by Stanford Hospital. Also, I continue to promote your work whenever I get a chance.
If you are ever in the Bay Area, please let me know. I would love to meet up one day.
Once again… Thank you for everything you do for the heart valve community.
Take care and… Go Blue!
Tapan
Thanks Tapan!!!
Does it get any better than that???
Thanks so much to Tapan 2.0 for taking the time to share his patient success story with us all.
Yes, I look forward to meeting Tapan in the future.
Keep on tickin’ Tapan!
Adam
