"I had a bicuspid valve that failed in 2015 when I was 60. I had a bovine valve and the surgeon used too many stitches and a valve that was too small for my heart. As a result, the valve failed after 7.5 years (very early).

I had to have a second aortic valve replacement. This time I went to the Mayo Clinic and saw Dr. Pochettino, because he is very experienced at second valve replacements (“re-do sternotomy”). He did an excellent job of fixing the previous surgeon’s mistakes. He is an excellent surgeon, was kind, and attentive. He came to see me every morning while I was at St. Mary’s at the Mayo Clinic.

I was very grateful to have Dr. Pochettino as my surgeon. The surgery went extremely well, my recovery was so much easier than the first surgery, and the care at Mayo Clinic was superb. I highly recommend Dr. Pochettino and the Mayo Clinic in Rochester. I cannot say enough great things about how happy I was to have surgery there, especially with Dr. Pochettino."

"Dr. Pochettino performed an aortic root replacement w/ onyx aortic valve, 3" of hemi-arch replacement, and a MAZE procedure. He and his entire team were awesome and came in every day on rounds to check on me. The nursing staff were top notch and I was out and home 7 days post surgery (procedure on a Weds, home the following Tuesday). In 12-14 months, heart shrunk from ventricles and other parts being severely enlarged to normal sized. 2 years post op, live has gotten better and heart is ticking away (literally). He and his team followed up with me several times and I cannot be happier with the outcome!"

"Dr. Pochettino and his staff at the Mayo clinic are true professionals and the best of the best. From the beginning process, to leading up to surgery and after, Dr. Pochettino and his team were willing to answer questions, concerns, and ease any fears of open heart surgery. Dr. Pochettino is a very skilled Cardiovascular Surgeon and he saved my life. I have had no post-op complications, regrets, or complaints. My new aortic ON-X valve is working beautifully."
