"It’s now been 6 months since my surgery, and my recovery is going great! The very challenging mitral valve repair by Dr. Shah was successful! The surgery notes detail various repair attempts made by the surgical team, which were not satisfactory.

Thankfully, they didn’t give up, and were able to give me a solid repair. My latest echo shows only slight regurgitation - well within normal limits. I am so very grateful to Dr. Shah and his staff for the wonderful care I’ve received throughout my experience.

At my recent 6 month check-up, Dr. Shah’s head nurse, Barbara, spent nearly 30 minutes with me, reviewing my latest echo, reviewing my recovery, and answering all my questions.

"The surgery performed by Dr. Shah was fully successful. He was attentive and informational in advance of the surgery and helped put me at ease. His staff was also terrific. I did have a post operative brief episode at a follow-up visit with staff where my blood pressure unexpectedly dropped. Dr. Shah immediately was called and came to my aid while keeping me calm. Terrific bedside manner. I was admitted to hospital and episode apparently in part related to my medication and possibly dehydration. The episode past and I was fine. After being admitted, Dr. Shah came to check up on me."

"I had 2 valves leaking. Dr. Shah clipped repaired the mitral and replaced the tricuspid with artificial valve as it was leaking too bad. Also got a heart bypass. I was on table for about 8 hours.

I was in Hoag Hospital for about 20 days. The staff were all great! I was transferred to the third floor as I was recovering and as I progressed. The third floor is the physical therapy floor for all therapies to ready you for going home.

I was able to stay at Hoag and not go to another physical therapy facility. for my recovery. Dr . Shah was surprised I recovering so well and fast as I did. My incision healed so good the nurses and doctor was surprised. It's been 6 months and at end of August I was doing pretty much all of my easy chores except reaching up and lifting things over 10 pounds. Dr. Shah and all the staff are very thorough with every process for recovery and are all trained to help you recover faster I think.

I'd recommend Dr. Shah for any heart procedure and all the staff at Hoag, Newport Beach."
