"Dr Matter is an extraordinary surgeon with a compassionate, caring bedside manner. An excellent teacher, he makes sure patients thoroughly understand the procedures and answers any and all questions posed to him. He made the incision as small as possible to minimize scarring. He allowed me to stay on as a postoperative patient longer than usual, giving me time to adjust to care without him. I felt immediate trust in him when I met him, and I was not disappointed. I recommend him to everyone I know who may be looking at heart surgery. (And if I ever had to have heart surgery again, he is the only one I would allow to touch me!)."

"Dr. Gregory Matter is an excellent surgeon with great bedside manner. He replaced my mitral valve with a St. Jude to match the St. Jude I already had in my aortic valve position. This was a high risk procedure as it was my 4th open heart surgery via sternotomy. Dr. Matter studied under the tutelage of Dr. Albert Pacifico from UAB Hospital in Alabama who subsequently did my aortic valve replacement in 1983 via Kono technique. I spent a total of 7 days in the hospital before I was released. I had an echocardiogram two weeks post op. My ejection went from 25-30% back to 60-65%. It's now almost two years after surgery and my echo still reveals an ejection fraction of 60%."
