"Dr. Yount performed my aortic valve replacement. For my initial consultation, he spent an hour with me going over specifically what my condition was, why it required open heart vs TAVR, what to expect pre, during, and post-op, and valve options and he recommended the Sternalock Blu for sternal closure based on my lifestyle.
He even spent 20 minutes with me in pre-op discussing valve options with me again when I couldn't decide (I opted for tissue and he selected the Edwards Inspira Resilia). My surgery went flawless and he visited me twice during my hospital recovery, spending significant time both visits and ensuring an appropriate release timeframe. My 4 week follow-up he spent another hour listening to me, answering my questions, and checking my scar and sternal closure. He even ran an EKG to address my heart rate concerns.
Dr. Yount is a patient, thorough, intelligent surgeon with an excellent bedside manner who understands what you are going through, including the mental aspect, and will listen to you and put you at ease."

Dr. Kenan Yount, heart surgeon, graduated from University of Virginia in 2010.
Dr. Yount has been principal investigator for a NIH grant to support large-scale clinical trial research and has served on the steering committee for the Cardiothoracic Surgical Trials Network.
Dr. Yount is board-certified by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery and a member of the American Association for Thoracic Surgery (AATS) and Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS), which recognized his research with its President’s Award.
He is originally from Augusta, Georgia, and graduated magna cum laude from Dartmouth, where he was captain of the golf team and an avid skier.
