"Because my case was emergency, I first met Dr Richard Ott in the hospital a few hours before surgery. I knew he was highly respected by other doctor's but In my 80s I was hesitant to have the surgery. When Dr Ott introduced himself to me at my bedside, his warm smile and encouraging words gave me peace of mind and I decided to have the work done. I needed the old fashioned seven inch incision center front chest for both aortic valve replacement and bypass. The pig valve was used. His support team was wonderful. As he had told me, I had no pain and within hours I was phoning distant family to say it's done and I feel good. Hospital released me in 4 days to go home where my daughter's cared for me for 4 weeks. I slept in my recliner because getting in and out of bed was difficult. My recovery was comfortable and very soon life was back to normal. The most difficult thing was remembering not to lift anything over 8 pounds and waiting until I could drive again. Friends who had heart surgeries by Dr Ott tell me their experiences were similar to mine. Dr Ott is a wonderful person and a great surgeon. Read his bio. You will be impressed. "
