"My husband saw Dr. Steven Gerndt on an emergency basis after a complication arose with his original aortic valve/ascending aorta replacement that was performed by a different surgeon in a different state. My husband was too sick to make the trek to the original surgeon via private vehicle and the ambulance would not take him that far. Dr. Gerndt was very thorough in dealing with my husband's pleural effusion, removing over 800 cc of fluid from around his heart, thereby saving his life. The surgeon also has a very pleasant bedside manner and seemed to genuinely care, even though this all took place over not only a weekend, but also a holiday weekend. Our experience with Dr. Gerndt left us wishing that we'd have chosen him for the original surgical procedure, however he does not have any reviews on this website. In fact, none of the surgeons in Green Bay do. Had we known that surgeons of this caliber were so close to us, we'd have never driven 350 miles. Our only complaint was the long wait in the office for my husband's follow up appointment. We had an 11 a.m. appointment and did not see Dr. Gerndt until 12:40 p.m. So, while we stumbled onto Dr. Gerndt by circumstance, he will be our choice for any future follow up."
