"My husband, George Maronich, had aortic valve replacement and Cox Maze IV procedure done by Dr. Lam on February 25, 2026 at MemorialCare Orange Coast Medical Center.
We were impressed with him the first time we met him; he was empathetic and very thorough in his explanation of George's options of various procedures. He used the model in his office to show us exactly what he thinks how George would benefit from a new valve. He also told us about the clinical trial Cedars Sinai is doing re a Jena Valve.
After some research, we decided to go with the surgical approach with Dr. Lam. George and I are very happy with the outcomes and Dr. Lam's dedication to his patients. He personally visited George every day and also kept me posted how he was doing. I had to call him one time after hours on a Friday night, he was kind and understanding how I just needed his reassurance.
George and I could not have asked for a better cardiac surgeon than Dr. Lam. We are eternally grateful how he had helped George throughout this process.

Education, Training & Certificates
Dr. Tuan Lam, heart surgeon, graduated from The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 1997.
After medical school, Dr. Lam completed a General Surgery Residency at the Medical College of Virginia in 1999 and another General Surgery Residency at California State University, East Bay in 2005. Next, he completed a Cardiac Transplant Research Fellowship at Stanford University School of Medicine in 2002. Dr. Lam then completed a Cardiothoracic Surgery Fellowship at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles in 2008.
Dr. Lam is board-certified in cardiothoracic surgery.
Dr. Lam was named "Physician of the Year" by MemorialCare Orange Coast Medical Center in 2013 and "Physician of the Year" by Citrus Valley Medical Center in 2011.
