After my heart surgery and Robyn’s brain surgery, we re-committed ourselves to a healthy life. For the physical component of that lifestyle, the two of us became Peloton enthusiasts.

Scratch that.  We’re beyond enthusiasts. We’re Peloton addicts.

One of the many reasons for that addiction is the Peloton instructors. Every time I get on the bike, I learn something new from them. I might learn something about my health and body.  I might learn something about the music they play.  And, I might learn something about being a better human on this planet.

I don’t have a favorite instructor. I love Robin Arzon for her fierce attitude and leadership… Rah!!! I love Alex Toussaint for his humility, thankfulness, will and swag. I love Matt for his meticulous and jolly approach to everything related to exercise. Emma, well, take the girl next door, add some 1990s rock, wiggle your fingers, wiggle your toes, and get ready to sweat. Jess King is all about freedom and colorful expression.  Ben is all about the masterful, musical playlists.

What About The One-And-Only Denis Morton?

Then, there is Denis Morton, the 44-year-old fitness coach originally from Central Florida who is followed by 225,000 people at his Instagram.

My fingers kinda just froze as I sit in front of my keyboard.

How to describe Denis?

How about… Timeless.  Soulful.  Spirit-rich.  Calming.  Empowering.  Nurturing.  Peaceful.  Uplifting.  Breathe.  Smooth.

In addition to cycling, Denis is also a wonderful yoga instructor and surfer.  Interestingly, Denis used to live in Los Angeles not far from me.  That said, we have both enjoyed the local, El Porto breaks in Manhattan Beach.

So you know…

When I jump on the Peloton bike for a class with Denis, I know the music is going to be spot-on.  I know Denis is going to throw some thoughtful, life learning at me. And, I know Denis is going to make suggestions while I make the decisions. 🙂

For me, a Denis Morton class is often less about the exercise and more about the mental refresh, the mindful reboot and the “control-alt-delete” I may need to awaken myself to a better day and a better me.

Denis’ Empowering “Shout Out” to Our Community!

So, for my recent 1,000th ride, I took a live 1980s cycling class with Denis.

As one could only hope… Denis did what Denis does.

During the ride, Denis took a quick second to acknowledge my 1,000th ride as the “HeartValveGuy”.  Yes, that was fun.

But, what happened next was fantastic…

Denis raised awareness to you and the 400,000 members of our community for our collective fight against heart disease.

Many, many, many thanks to Denis for supporting our community!

Keep on tickin’ Denis!!!
Adam

P.S. In case you missed it… Several kind Peloton instructors have shown their support for the HeartValveSurgery.com community. Here’s a few more shout-outs from the Peloton team:
