As many of you have been following my son’s passion for robotics, I am happy to share that Ethan’s team won the VEX Robotics California State Championship last weekend in San Diego. To claim the title, Ethan’s team went on an extraordinary and undefeated 13-0 run.
If you are not familiar with the VEX Robotics Competition, here’s a quick video showing Ethan’s team competing on a “field of play”. As you will see, the robotic teams built these amazing robots that are designed to perform several tasks during a “match”. This year, the robots get points for developing autonomous self-driving software, scoring goals and climbing poles. In addition, it’s really important that the robots can also play defense.
Here’s Ethan with his teammates – Liam, Daniel, Dylan and Hyunjun. Ethan’s robotic team has been together for two years and was formed at Rolling Robots, a robotics camp in Southern California.
Next up, Ethan and his team will compete at “The VEX Robotics World Championship” at the Dallas Convention Center during a 3-day competition in April. At The World Championship, robotic teams from over 30 countries around the world are invited to compete. Here’s a video showing what happens at “The Worlds” robotic event.
Needless to say, Robyn, my wife, and I are extremely proud of Ethan and his team given all of their hard work during the regular season and the playoffs. Go Ethan! Go Rolling Robots!
Keep on tickin!
