Lil’ Victor Readies For 3rd Heart Surgery
By Adam Pick on April 28, 2013
In 2010, we donated $5,000 to the Gift of Life to help pay for the cardiac surgery of Victor Saravia, an incredibly cute, one-year old boy from El Salvador. The procedure — that was performed by Dr. John Morales at Driscoll Hospital at Corpus Cristi, Texas — was a success and Victor went home to his family.
The other day, I received an unexpected update from the Saravia family on my Facebook page. As you can see in the picture above, Victor has transformed from a baby to a toddler – who appears to be quite fond of the Mario Brothers toys.
In addition to the picture, I also received a note from Patricia Saravia.
In her note, Patricia writes, “Dear Adam – Even though we don’t know each other in person, we wanted to let you know how thankful we are for the economical support (which we have recently find out) you gave to us and our dear child Victor for his second hart surgery, but more important, your moral support and all your prays. Our child is a miracle, we know he has a great purpose in life. We just want to keep you posted on his recovering, his third and last surgery is close now, it’s called the “fontán” procedure. We have trust in god that everything will turn out well. We know we will never be able to pay all the help you have provided for us, but our god will compensate all you’ve done in his own way. Thank you very much again. God bless you.”

My thoughts and prayers are with Victor, his family and friends, as he prepares for his next surgery. If you would like to make a donation to the Gift of Life, please let me know.
Keep on tickin’ Victor!
