Dr. Allan Stewart Goes The Extra Mile For His Patients
By Adam Pick on June 2, 2014
[Update: Please note that Dr. Allan Stewart is no longer performing surgery at Mount Sinai Hospital.]
If there is one thing I know about Dr. Allan Stewart, it is that he goes the extra mile for his patients — metaphorically and physically.
Dr. Stewart & Greg O’Keeffe (Patient) Complete Triathlon Together
As one of the first surgeons to support this project — way back in 2009 — Dr. Stewart has rallied around our mission to educate and empower patients.
That said, he has contributed many articles and videos to help our patients learn about heart valve surgery. Such stories have addressed topics like teeth cleaning before heart surgery, the different types of heart valve replacements, and breast implants before surgery.

And… Dr. Stewart has embraced our efforts to create a caring community for each member of this website — including the patients, their families and their friends. To champion that effort, Dr. Stewart has participated in several endurance events (e.g. triathlons) with patients including Greg O’Keeffe.
100+ Patients From Our Community Successfully Treated!
Ultimately, and most importantly, Dr. Stewart has made connections with our patients that result in great surgical results. So far, Dr. Stewart has successfully treated over 100 patients from our community. In fact, our patients will travel across the country to be operated on by Dr. Stewart — like Bill Easton. For another great patient success story, read this one about Mark Lampersberger.
Given all of the goodness referenced above, I want to shine our ‘Surgeon Spotlight’ on Dr. Allan Stewart, who is the Director of the Aortic Program and Co-Director of the Valve Center in the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at The Mount Sinai Hospital in New York. Many thanks to Dr. Stewart for his continued support of our community!
Keep on tickin’ Dr. Stewart!
