After Keyhole Heart Valve Surgery By Dr. William Ryan, John Is Home!

By Adam Pick on May 13, 2008

After four opinions regarding his defective mitral valve, John finally had minimally invasive mitral valve repair at the skilled hands of Doctor William Ryan in Texas. Here is John’s latest update:

Dear Adam,

I have contacted you a couple of times about heart valve surgery. I first ordered and read your book – that helped me a lot.

Before that, I had been urged by four doctors to have my mitral valve repaired because of severe mitral valve regurgitation. I finally relented but wanted it to be done by the right surgeon and the right hospital. I live in Tulsa, Oklahoma and wanted minimally invasive surgery that I could not get in Oklahoma.

I found Dr. William H. Ryan at The Heart Hospital At Plano Texas and asked you if you had heard of him. You replied that you had heard of a few people (including Doug Atkins and Melissa Causey) receiving heart valve surgery from him all with good results.

The Heart Hospital At Plano is the best. If anyone needs info about Dr. Ryan, please give them my e-mail, I will be happy to provide information. Thank you Adam.

John

After 4 days, I was home recovering from my second open heart surgery. The first was when I was 24 in 1999 and Dec 22, 2008. This was the second surgery Dr. Ryan has done for me with the first being the Ross procedure. I developed a rare condition of the Ross procedure some of you researching, may want to know. I can attest that Dr. Ryan is a miraculous surgeon, and I would recommend him to anyone needing similar procedures. There was no shortage of accolades and praise from his peers, nurses, and staff at the Baylor Heart Hospital of Plano for Dr. Ryan and the work he does. If anyone is going to have open heart surgery, I can provide some recovery tips I learned (the hard way) this time around. My email is monniesoto (at) gmail.com

Dr. Ryan did a Ross procedure on me 11 years ago with great results. I haven’t had to think twice about participating in any activity. Now that I need surgery for an enlarged aorta, Dr. Ryan was the only choice for me!

Dr Will Ryan performed a port access mital valve repair and maze procedure on me on Oct 2,2012. The procedure was performed at the Baylor Heart Hospital in Plano,Texas.
I am in my 3rd week of recovery with great results!
My valve was repaired and is 100% with no leakage. In addition, the maze procedure eliminated my A-Fib completely.
Dr Ryan is the best! I considered surgeons in New York and Boston for the procedure, but I was completely satisfied with Dr Ryan after our interview.
Dr Ryan has extensive experience with this type of surgery with over 1000 surgeries repairing and replacing valves. He is a wonderful man and an outstanding surgeon.
I highly recommend this surgeon and the Baylor Heart Hospital….
