Wanna See My High-Tech Distribution Center?
By Adam Pick on December 8, 2008
Earlier today, I received an email from Geraldine that reads, “Adam – I can’t believe it. Your book has already arrived. I ordered it just yesterday. Thanks so much for the quick delivery. I can’t wait to read it as my aortic valve will be replaced next Tuesday. By the way, who handles the distribution of your book?”
First off, my thoughts and prayers are with Geraldine. After learning who her surgeon was, I know she is going to do just great with a new mechanical aortic valve.
Second, I had to smile and chuckle after reading Geraldine’s question, “Who handles your distribution?”
Why? Well… If you knew how my book was packaged and distributed, you might laugh too. Here’s how distribution is handled:
I receive the paperback books (in bulk) from a printer in Atlanta, Georgia. Then, about once a month, I clear off our kitchen table and go-to-work stuffing envelopes. I even bribe my pregnant wife, Robyn, into helping me. I can’t say it’s a fun, exciting activity. But, at the same time, Robyn and I always manage to have fun putting the books together.
Keep on tickin!

Adam, I just had aortic valve replacement 3 weeks ago and am doing quite well so far…very little pain. I am trying to do what is required…usingthe incentive inspirometer, and walking, and resting when I need it. I am starting to feel restless. I dont really feel like doing anything and yet I am starting to feel depressed. Any suggestions? |

Adam your dedication to all of us going through the “process” of valve repair/replacement is amazing & wonderful. It goes to show what a difference just ONE (+ dear Robyn) person’s unselfish, caring, & “giving back” can do to comfort SO MANY. I LOVE seeing the “hi tech” handling of getting your book out so quickly . A little peek at what a really wonderful person you are. THANK YOU from the bottom of my not yet mended “broken heart” 😉 |
