Our Prayers Are With Kelly
By Adam Pick on February 10, 2012
Hi everybody,
I just learned that Kelly Nugent, who had aortic and mitral valve surgery on February 3rd, experienced complications and remains in critical condition. I do not know all the details yet. However, I do know that Kelly has been through A LOT and needs our support.
While there is much debate, and even studies, about the power of prayer… I’m a believer. That said, I’m sending Kelly healthy, heart-pumping thoughts right now. I know that Linda, Mitch, Anne, Deb, Jane and Sheila – her Heart Valve Journals buddies – are probably doing the same. If you could offer Kelly a prayer, I imagine Kelly and her family would greatly appreciate it.
Keep on tickin’ Kelly!
Adam

Kelly will definitely be in my prayers. I am 2 months post op for my second aorta valve replacement in less than 12 years and this surgery was much worse than the first one. I had an infection get into my blood stream and attacked my tissue valve, so I had to have it replaced in an emergency and then had to go through 6 weeks of IV antibiotics 24-7. My heart is now in atrial fibrillation, so the doctors are trying to get it back into rhythm. You usually hear mostly about success stories in valve surgery ,but things can go wrong. Kelly has a lot of folks praying for her. Don |

Prayers to you too Don that they get you back into rhythm & no more infections! |

For those who have a prosethic valve, please be aware that if you get an infection in your blood stream and this could happen at the dentist office, the dermatologist office, or even at the orthopedic surgeon’s office, that this infectioin ( endocarditis) will attack your tissue valve and you will need it replaced immediately and will have to undergo agressive antibotic treatments. It happened to me and I had my bovine aorta valve replaced Nov 30 and underwent 6 weeks of IV antibiotics and now my heart is in A-fib, so be cautious. |

Hi everybody, Thanks for all of your emails regarding Kelly. Unfortunately, Kelly has been on a roller coaster. Some good days and some bad days. I have been following Kelly’s condition on her Facebook page where Katrina Macias has been providing regular updates. The last update read, “Kelly is doing ok today, she is stable. They do not know when they will try to do her [next] surgery.” If you would like to visit Kelly at Facebook, please click http://www.facebook.com/kelly.nugent. Please keep Kelly in your prayers!
