Patient Webinar: Advances in Bicuspid Aortic Valve Therapy
Bicuspid aortic valves are the most common congenital heart defect that impact up to 2% of the general population. This disorder can manifest in life-threatening cardiac conditions including aortic stenosis (a narrow heart valve), aortic regurgitation (a leaking heart valve) or infections. During this special webinar, Drs. Chris Malaisrie and Jyothy Puthumana, the co-directors of the Bicuspid Aortic Valve Program at the Bluhm Cardiovascular Institute of Northwestern Medicine, share important facts and insights about the (i) the diagnosis of bicuspid aortic valves, (ii) the progression of bicuspid aortic valves, (iii) the treatment of bicuspid aortic valves and (iv) new research specific to bicuspid aortic valves including 4D-MRI and clinical trials. This patient webinar concludes with a special "Patient Questions & Answers" session where patients ask Drs. Malaisrie and Puthuman their questions about bicuspid aortic valves.
