Dr. Barnhart did my AVR 12/14...you're in good hands with him and at Swedish. I definitely won't say it's easy, but it gets better every week (not every day...be ready for some ups and downs) and before you know it you'll be 2 months post-surgery and feeling "almost normal". Outside of the obvious post-surgery advice of not overdoing it and letting your body heal, I'd definitely suggest cardiac rehab as they have a great program at Swedish. Best of luck with it all:)

Judy Paul Bob - my son in law is from Bremerton. I visited his parents several years ago. It is a lovely place... very different from Philly. I had my first AVR close to home at UPENN. Sadly, I need to have a redo, and I will be going to Cleveland Clinic for the surgery on March 7. You might want to research CC, though I would imagine you want to stay in Wash state.

Adam Skaufel Thanks Kevin - my surgery was very successful. I'm now almost 2 weeks post surgery and am feeling pretty good. I'm no where near 100% yet, but slowly getting better each day.

Hi Bob - Dr Barnhart was fantastic. He was able to perform a Mini-Sternotomy for me and replace my aortic valve with a mechanical On-X valve. I'm very happy with it so far.
