Hi Debby, I saw your comment on my post. Wow, you've been through so very much. I had no idea that mechanical valves could cause strokes. That's scary to know, but I will try not to think about it for myself. I know what it feels like to be unable to sleep, as it took me about 6 months after my surgery to sleep through the night again. I think for me it is anxiety related, so I do have meds I rely on to help me sleep when necessary. And I have a therapist, which it is really helpful to talk to someone and work through the trauma related to the surgery. I don't know if you've tried that but it could be helpful. Staying busy is a good thing too. I wish you well.
