Gerald- Sorry to read about your "Bumps" and hope too that it will be smooth for you and your wife from this day forward! After having surgery it is tough to run into things that complicate the healing process. I think your wife is owed a big "thanks" for also being right there by your side as you get back into your progress of healing! Both of you take care and I am sending a prayer your way this morning that all continues to move forward as it should! A California Hug to you both!
Hi Gerald. Thinking of you today as your prepare for your surgery. Sending prayers and best wishes!

Gerald Schaffer Thank you Jacqueline, I'll be heady to Philly tonight as we're staying in a hotel a block and a half from the hospital so I don't have to fight rush hour traffic the day of surgery.
I appreciate your thoughts and prayers you, can never have too many people praying for you when having open heart surgery.

Gerald- Just wondering how you are doing as you get closer to your "Big Day" on the 26th. You are having the same thing done that I had last year on Aug. 20th. I bet you are at a point you are just ready to get this done and for the waiting to stop? I hope you are ready and have good support for when you are headed home in starting in on your recovery. Please be confident and know that the hearts of many will be thinking of you and sending out prayers on the day and throughout your recovery. If you have any questions don't forget we are here for you. Take care Heart Brother.

Gerald Schaffer Thank you Terrie, I feel very confident heading into this. I've learned a lot by reading other people's experiences here and other internet sites. I started by reading Adam's book and the web sites of the major hospitals.
I'm lucky that my wife was able to take family leave from work and will be with me for a month after surgery to take care of me. Though I don't expect to be walking miles like some people have posted doing weeks after surgery but I do expect to improve some everyday based on tips I've gotten from those who took the time to post their experiences after surgery.
It's so nice being helped by people you may never meet in person but still have a special connection.
Thank you for thinking of me.

Terrie Syvertsen Hello again Gerald. Good to read your Wife will have a month off with you when you head home for recovery as going into surgery you have that knowledge which should make you feel special and confident. Let her know to contact us here if we can help or lend some support while she is waiting! She can reach me at:tsyvertsen1@sbcglobal.net if she wants to connect or exchange numbers to call if she wants to know anything once she gets you home! I had the exact same surgery as you will be having.
I wish you the best tomorrow and know this will be nice for you to have behind you so you two can move on with your life! Take it easy today and have a good evening tonight. Don't worry about feeling you will be expected to walk miles as you will find your own rate of walking and enjoy doing even that so look forward to nice slow walks at first and enjoy yourself just being out in the fresh air for a bit and then more than likely it will be home for a little sleep as your body will tell you what it needs and you will advance in your own time according to that! Will be saying prayers for you Brother!
