Hello Heath. Dr Estrera was my surgeon and you are in such good hands. I had a biscuspid aortic valve repaired, a maze procedure, and an ascending aortic aneurysm including aortic root replacement. I have a journal posted on this site if you're interested in my progress. Thankfully, I've done very well and know that you will too. Keep the faith and my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Heath, I too am from Arkansas and I was born with Bicuspid Aortic Stenosis. I have not had surgery, but have kept up with my check-ups. Recently, my echo showed that I may be nearing the surgery phase. I am living in Oregon now and am researching surgeons and hospitals. I was born with this condition in 1961 and the last two years I have been noticing changes. I am a very active, hyper 55 year old. Starting to tire more easily when exerting myself and the heat seams to bother me more now. I am not liking it at all. Too limiting. Question? Have you ever had any tightness in your neck, with pain shooting up into your head then vision problems and vertigo feelings? It is weird. I am scheduled to meet with a surgeon this next week and will discuss what I have been feeling to get feedback. I wish you well.

Heath Larner Hi Shareinea. Those symptoms never happened to me. I never really had symptoms...my echo just said it was time. I have a pic of my aortic valve they replaced and I had only a little tiny opening. They couldn't believe I was still able to function and do push-ups. The doc said my strength from working out kept me going, but that I was close to heart failure. How are you doing now? Sorry for the delay in responding. The holidays and family visiting kept me off-line.

shareinea Hubbard Glad to hear you are doing well. My symptoms have changed and will have an angiogram this next week? It is weird. The last couple of months I have gone from being very active to being very tired and dizzy and actually fainted twice? Doctors have said I am not in the serious stage yet, but my activity has really changed and I am not liking it much. Am hoping to get a second opinion this next week? I have done research on the Ross procedure and I really like this for me. I want my active lifestyle back like it was.
