James Hall Hi, I went for mechanical the thought of one and done was the main reason. So far I'm very happy with that decision. I know it means warfarin for life but after heart surgery you usually end up on medication anyway and if taking these means I'm at lower risk of a repeat op I will take warfarin in preference to that. How are you feeling ?

Tracey Bilski Thanks so much for information. I feel good which is why I'm wondering when I should do this. Watching echos to make sure it is not getting worse, but it is considered severe. Was it hard to get used to the noise of the mechanical valve?

James Hall No, I only heard it for a couple of weeks and then it settled down and I never hear it now. even in bed lying on my side. The nurse asked me if the clicking bothered me , I said no if it stops it will bother me !!! For me the whole op and post op has been no issue, its a few weeks of discomfort but it was not even close to being as bad as expected. I do understand everyone is different. I can only advise based on my experience. Do you understand the whole thing about reverse remodelling ? It doesn't get talked about much but I feel its very important to your decision ? sorry it took a while to reply I didnt see your post
