Hello Joy and welcome to this wonderful site. I had your same diagnosis and was looking to have robotic procedure as well. Like Deena mentioned after reviewing my records my surgeon said that for safety and for the best outcome I would need a sternotomy which really bummed me out. As Deena said it really wasn’t very painful and the healing just takes a little longer. I was lucky to have mitral and tricuspid valves repaired instead of replaced and had the annular rings as well. It seems daunting but there are lots of amazing surgeons in state of the art facilities so find one you are comfortable with and you will have a great outcome and a speedy recovery.
