Hey Kathryn-I just saw your reply to my post my apologies. Dr. Lamelas replaced my aortic valve and I’m not even sure they can repair this valve like the mitral valve. I am only 41 but it was so calcified nastiness I just wanted it gone. He also fixed me ascending aneurysm up to the hemi arch which measured 5.3. All of this done through a 5-6CM incision under my right arm pit area close to the pectoral muscle. Hope that helps and let me know if you have more questions.
