Hi Kristen, I read your bio....I rarely jump on now as life has swept me away, but I had a BAV and aneurysm in my ascending aorta. My operation was in 2014- I found out in my late 30' s but was misdiagnosed at the age of 16. Clearly it was not my time to die. I had no idea what was inside of me until my late thirties and I, too, was terrified when I found out. If you google my name, a video will come up of Adam, myself and my surgeon, where I share parts of my story. If you have any questions, please let me know. This site really helped me a lot as I felt very alone in the process and the support was amazing. Including Adam. My surgeon used my existing tissue and created and tricuspid. So I do not have a tissue valve or mechanical (so NO blood thinner). I do not take any medicine. I had the aneurysm cut out and now in it's place is a piece of Dacron.
