Hi Linda, I saw your post about low heart rate on Metoprolol. Absolutely, it could be the med. They had to take my dose down to the lowest amount--my HR also dropped very low on it. I always felt a little iffy about anything below 50. Let your cardiologist know, if it camps out in the lowest range--they might want to tweak things.

LINDA ROBERTS Thanks, Catie. I presently take 25mg. of metoprolol once a day and see my cardiologist around the second week of November so will mention this to him. Hoping I will get to go off amiodarone and warafin at three months post aorta valve surgery but we will see.

Catie B That appointment isn't very far off now. I hope you'll get an excellent report. It was right around three months after my surgery when I was able to come off Amiodarone and warfarin-- and I know it will be a relief, if he says you can stop them. :)

LINDA ROBERTS Thanks, Catie. I am really hoping to get off coumadin (since I will need a tooth extraction unfortunately). Trying to make it to 3 months or more before I do anything about this
issue. Also, I really want to go off amiodarone but we will see. My local cardiologist I have only seen once and he has not been very communicative but will be seeing him at the beginning of November. Glad you are doing well.

Catie B I hate that you've had to wait so long on your dental work! I was just reading in your journal and saw where you experienced ventricular tachycardia when your pacing wires were removed. So sorry that happened. Do you know whether it has occurred since then? (BTW, my pacing wires were left in, clipped at skin level. Have had a bit of trouble with them.) My electrophysiologist reassured me some about Amiodarone. Though it's an onerous drug, he said it is the very best medication for rhythm issues and that a few weeks or months on is not usually dangerous at all. But I know I was eager to stop both as soon as possible. Hope you get very good news next month.!

Hi Linda
Rex Anderson’s wife, Anne here. Rex has his surgery August 10th and we expect him to be discharged tomorrow, all going well. He is walking several times a day and is feeling great. His only issue is high blood pressure. We are also from Florida (Cape Coral) and are anxious to return home as soon as possible. We had always thought that Tampa had a good heart hospital but opted for Cleveland Clinic for his second aortic valve replacement in 14 months. The first one failed and he progressively got worse over the last year. We felt much more confident in going to Cleveland Clinic this time. His recovery seems much quicker this time. Wishing you well on your surgery this week.

Linda - Thank you for your reply to my post. I find that the most effective method of positive imagery is to simply think about the process going smoothly and focusing on what you're looking forward to doing for the remainder of this year and next year. Imagine yourself feeling accomplished and energized. Maybe you'll have family gatherings over the holidays, a trip, or anything that brings you joy - picture it in vivid detail. You can make it anything that inspires you!
I was very anxious before surgery, but you will feel much more relaxed knowing so many good things are ahead of you. Stay positive! ❤

Diane Maher Hi Linda...As Susan is aware, I have been following Susan’s various posts for some time now😊. What I have
also found very helpful to assist me with imagery/visualization strategies is Peggy Huddleston’s book and CD, Prepare for Surgery,
Heal Faster. I have found the steps on the CD, Relax to Feel Peaceful and Visualize Your Healing to be exceptionally helpful on remaining focused, especially when my mind starts to wonder.
LINDA ROBERTS Thanks, Diane, for the book suggestion.
