Mark Buttell Thank you so much for the well wishes. Long day of pre-op and consults today. The surgeon had to remind me of the things I shouldn’t be concerned with. I have finally let go and let God and the team guide me through this. They believe the biggest task is getting through many years of scar tissue from past surgeries and after that they can do their masterpiece work of valve replacements. I am very blessed by my family, friends, community and support of this incredible network of heart champs! I will update you on the other side when I am able. God Bless you all.
Klara Čičić Good luck Mark, you are truly blessed! You are doing great and I am sure all will be fine.

Hi Mark! Hope you're doing good! I had to look up what Tetralogy of Fallot is. I have never heard of it before. You have had a life full of challenges, and now, another one before you. I love your positive outlook! It's something I am personally trying to work on. And I don't just mean when someone says "think positive" ...I mean seeing adversity, and specific problems through a new lense, that sees it as a good thing, instead of a bad thing. I truly believe that God works in all things, for our good. We only have to open our eyes, and see it, sometimes. In 2021, I had a much different surgery, than expected, that has changed my life. I have spent my share of time being sad, mad, disappointed, scared, and depressed because of one complication or another. But I am trying to see how each one of them, is actually a good thing. A step forward, not backward. Your story, and your positive message is inspiring for me to read! Thanks for telling your story. ..Happiness is a choice! We need to take the pains, and disappointment, of complications, and find the good that's there! Or try, at least. Anyway, ...thanks again! Have a good night!

Mark Buttell Greg, Thank you so much for your kind words. I have read your posts on many patients portals and you also are an inspiration to so many. I see God does work through you and if it wasn't for him and my belief in his presence working through a surgeons hands I wouldn't be here. I am offering this procedure up to many battling other diseases that are not so forgiving as mine. IF by his grace I see the other side, I can continue my non-profit organization that I founded 10yrs ago and will keep providing positive influence in lives of others. We need to keep faith, hope and love in our world we live in and this organization is all about that. Adam has found this site which is incredible and has helped so many facing these valve diseases. So we all have a purpose and something more to give after we pull through these operations. Thanks again Greg it is appreciated!

I was born with bicuspid aortic valve and had my first operation in 1960. A long story but I'm still here skiing, hiking and playing pickleball at 72 yo. Would love to chat with you. Possible I'll be having a 5th open heart.
