Marshall,
I was 66 when I found out I had a bicuspid valve with severe aortic stenosis. I was totally asymptotic as well. Quite a shocker. I too had been very active and ate reasonably well. Thank the Lord I had researched and found the surgeon I wanted and I was out of the hospital on the 5th day.
I had one IV while in pre-op and I remember them stopping me by my wife and daughter to receive a kiss and I don’t remember anything until waking up in recovery.
You will do great and be out of the hospital before you know it.
My surgeon did a mini thoracic incision and 4 years later you can not see a scar.

Hey Marshall, hope you are finding some relaxing time. I looked and I found this explanation on how plavix works. Hope it helps you.
"Blocking platelets from sticking together and prevents them from forming harmful clots. It is an antiplatelet drug. It helps keep blood flowing smoothly in your body."
Have a great day!

I am betting that the mechanical valve is THEIR IDEA.
I would check out Dr Balkhy uChicago, or Dr. Joseph Lamelas, chief of cardiac surgery at UHealth, University of Miami Health System,
I just put links to my story that helps explain things
I would love to help. My mom was on blood thinner had valve replacement in 1970's and it is NOT FUN or good be on the blood thinners.
My valve will last 10-15 years, and is replaced through TAVR through the groin.
If i can help you me know
Gratefully

I can only tell you what I went through. I did have a left heart catherization, that’s how they found out exactly what was going on with my heart. As far as both sides I don’t know but maybe another heart warrior on this site can answer that. May i suggest you look at the menu on the top right hand side of this page and look to see if there is information about catherization of both sides. I wish I could answer your question but can’t. In the meantime keep yourself healthy and safe. Hopefully someone will respond soon. God bless you heart warrior!
