Hi Mary, the HVS website and YouTube page has a wealth of information about the Ross Procedure. Educate yourself if you haven’t already. That should help get the answers to any questions you have. There are many heart warriors in this community that have experience with the Ross, myself being one of them. We would be happy to help in anyway we can. Feel free to ask us any questions. Also, I see your in NJ. I had my surgery at Mt. Sinai I’m NYC and they have one of the leading Ross programs in the country, if not the best. Dr. Stelzer and Dr. El Hamamsy are amazing surgeons and have between the two of them performed over 1300 Ross Procedures. Happy Holidays and good luck with your heart journey. Dear Mary, welcome to this wonderful family of heart warriors. I, like Andrew, can relate to your story, having to have to see a cardiologist my whole life and eventually dealing with this kind of surgery so early in life. I can assure you that you can do this. Medicine does wonders these days. Pregnancy, delivery are all possible thanks to science development. We are here for the support and for listening. Feelings you have are very familiar to all of us.

Thank you so much for sharing your story! I can definitely relate to some of the things you’re saying. I had, what I thought were symptoms of just getting older. Fatigue mostly, although I had many instances of light headedness too. I think the fact that you want the Ross because you want to have a family is absolutely amazing and for a woman, that is such a big important decision. You have all the support you need from all of us at Heart Valve Surgery! And there are quite a few Ross recipients here too. Feel free to ask any question you want !
