Such a good idea, a doula! Of course there's a need for that, for all kinds of post-hospital attention. I got home yesterday from my TAVR and my adult daughter is here. My sister came from SanFran for a few days mostly to give my daughter support while she was present for me. She (sister) left this morning.
There isn't anything I can't do, but I'm still on stroke watch and you will be, too, I guess. And while I'm an introvert and glad to have some alone time again, I'm also glad to have someone around to remind me of what I'm supposed to do, take, not do, and to be paying attention. Also someone to tell, when I notice something that represents the TAVR is working!
My health plan asked if I needed home help, and I know if it's prescribed by your doctor, Medicare (if you have it) pays for that. It's not the same as having someone in the house, though. I am lucky to have my daughter who was willing to put plans on hold to be here, and will be off to parts unknown in due time. Without her, I'm in your shoes, with a small friend group and I wouldn't feel right asking them to stay with me. It was a big deal to me to ask them to be on call for 3 hours when my daughter took my sister to the airport. Maybe there's a way to connect with someone else who has been through it, in your location?
Maybe there could be a spot on this or another web site to register to help or as someone needing help. I suppose there's some risk, in that people need to be screened and whatnot. I wonder what your area has available. I might put a note on Nextdoor if you have that, and see what others have done.
Good luck to you, and keep posting so we know how it's going.
