Sandy how old is your husband? I was 48yrs. old when i had mine. My doctor who has been tracking my heart for years prior said to me. He recommended the mechanical valve. He said i would most likely have 2 more valves through out my life. Based on i have a long life. He said definitley one time . Two times he said i would be old and may not survive the operation.I no that is in the future but that is all you can go by at this time. He explained about the blood thinners also. I pick the mechanical. i don't like the blood thinners but i do not want my chest ripped open again. I can't imagine twice.
