Tammy, I read on one of your posts that you are three weeks post MVR. Did you have it done minimally invasive or through the sternum? I will be seeing a surgeon August 8 to schedule surgery the week of August 20.
Our son is getting married at the end of September. I am wondering if you are feeling up to traveling by car or by plane at this time? I hope to be at least a month out before his wedding date.
Thanks for sharing.

Tammy Seigel Sorry I didn't respond sooner. I didn't get a notice that you had written. I am now 9 weeks out. My surgery was through the sternum and my energy is getting better all the time, but still not where I'd like it to be. Part of the issue is a higher heart rate. There were some delays in getting going on my rehab and walking has been a bit challenging in the heat of the south. Today I start my first official class of rehab and expect to feel even better with that in place. Travel should be fine for you. The biggest issue I've had to manage is fatigue. Everyone is different and it depends on how much they do and how invasive the procedure is. Let me know if you have other questions and here's my email if you want to be in touch directly. Best of luck! tamar.seigel@gmail.com

Hi Tammy, I just read your story. Wishing you well on the 5th! I had my mitral valve repaired 12 weeks ago by Dr. Luis Castro, at Sequoia Hospital (near San Francisco).
I've heard wonderful things about Dr. McCarthy! In fact, one of my "heart sisters" that I met on this website had her mitral valve repaired by Dr. McCarthy a few weeks ahead of my surgery, so it was so reassuring to check in during the initial weeks during my recovery. By the way, I'm also from Charlotte, NC (and was just there last week visiting my parents). Sounds like you are all set, but if you ever want to chat further, here's my email: gjfiorentino@gmail.com

Hi Tammy,
You’re going to do great on June 5th. I just had mine done on Wednesday, May 23 and went home on Sunday. When I woke up I didn’t know if they repaired it or replaced it. Luckily, it was repaired and it was a success.
Your family and friends will help you.
Take excellent care of yourself.
Best wishes,
Jill
