Hi Thoma, I opted for tissue valve . I am 57 and weighed my options. In my particular case i was not ready to be on blood thinners. That's a very personal decision and it took several weeks for me to decide. The valve I got at UT Southwestern, the Edwards Inspiris Valve has an anti calcium treatment that shows promise to last many years but of course that remains to be seen. My hope it last long enough that when the time comes I can get a TAVR tissue valve in the future. Otherwise I may need an open replacement down the road but the risk of re-operation is similar to first surgery at a Valve Center. With that being said there is nothing wrong with going mechanical if you are ok with blood thinners. Hope that helps.
Thoma Lile Thank you. It does help a lot. I do want to avoid blood thinners.
