Hi Tracy. A few weeks ago you asked if my rest heart rate spiked when I reduced my metoprolol dosage. I think I have the answer. Near the end of June I reduced the dosage from 25 mg to 12.5 mg per day (half pill). Two weeks later I stopped completely . The graph from my Fitbit below show the two spikes. I wish I had kept track of the other reductions last year; I don’t recall the spikes for those reductions. I’ve had no other symptoms so far.

Tracy Chang Geoege, thank you for sharing this info with me. I can feel heart palpatation even when I am on Metoprolol 25mg. I just had event monitor for one month but will not know the results until my next cardiologist visit in Aug. I will then ask him if I can try a different med to keep my heart rate low because I wonder if it is Metoprolol that makes me feel tired all the time.

Susan Lynn Tracy - I can almost assure you it's Metoprolol that makes you feel tired. I'm on 100 mg of the extended release and my heart rate is usually in the 50s. The sad thing is, I've gotten used to side effects over the years I've been on it. I would love to reduce the dosage, but on my last visit to the cardiologist it's keeping my PACs and PVCs in acceptable ranges, so they don't want to mess with it. Hope you get good news and you can eliminate or change your Rx. Good luck - keep us posted!

Hi Tracy😊I hope you’re doing great now, though still in a complete healing stage. Like you, I’ve been diagnosed with RHD last December 2021 before Christmas and was undergone open heart surgery last March 10, 2022. Aortic and mitral valve replacement due to stenosis and regurgitation. My symptoms are palpitations and chest pain. Thanks God I’m good now, return to office work after 90 days. But no to too much mental and physical stress. Always listen to your body and take enough rest though I always try to be back from what I am doing before, little by little, slowly but surely😊
Tracy Chang Lilian, Good to know you are doing well. I am recovering and take lots of rest between activities.
