Photos are from The Hopewell Rocks at the Bay of Fundy - New Brunswick side. Walking on the beach at low tide, see if you can see the high tide mark on the rocks behind my husband, Bill and I. High tide was 46.5' this day. Huge amount of stairs to climb so I took my time, taking a moment on each platform, not letting my HR go beyond 110 ( just my own comfort level being far from home.) Had a wonderful time, took the scenic route everywhere we could and stopped in NYC to spend a little time with family and friends as well. You wouldn't know I had Mitral valve replacement and Tricuspid repair six months ago. I hope this gives those awaiting surgery a vision of how soon it will be to live your life with joy, not anxiety, again! Trust me, it will be!Rose Madura Congratulations! We're still undecided if we'll fly or drive but heavily leaning on renting a 4-Wheel drive SUV to minimize contact with others. We booked an airB&B the first few days we're there because the NBA All Star game happens to be in Cleveland Feb. 18-20th and there is not a single hotel room available until the 21st! I'll be admitted on the 18th. I'm feeling very well but I'm not pushing it too much either. I ride a stationary bike and use 5LB. weights for exercise and am trying to be in the best shape I can pre-surgery. Of course it's been very stressful worrying about the surgery. How are you doing?Janelle Hurst Glad you were able to find an AirB&B! We decided to fly but we'll be wearing N-95's...getting a litt ... Read moreJanelle Hurst Glad you were able to find an AirB&B! We decided to fly but we'll be wearing N-95's...getting a little more nervous about COVID since it's ramping up again, but trying to minimize contact with others from now until surgery. I'm doing ok, just feel very tired most days, and work is exhausting...not sure if it's just stress or because of heart stuff, probably a combination. I got engaged last week, so that was super exciting! So thankful for the support of my fiance through this whole ordeal.Upcoming Surgeries

Your scar is almost gone. May I ask why you decided on a porcine valve instead of a bovine valve?
For my mitral, it was a choice between porcine or mechanical. Oh, and my scar is very faint now on the top half but is more apparent as it goes down and the bottom 1/3rd is still like a raised worm. My cardio rehab nurse said to rub Vitamin E oil on it, press on it hard, making small circles so I did that every other day for a while after daily showering. I do it at least once a week now and use Aveeno after daily showers. I think it has helped!
Interesting that you mentioned it because every doctor I've seen since surgery also mentioned it saying things like "It's so clean" "impressive cut".... things like that... who knew?
Regarding the scar, my lower 1/2 shows significantly more than my upper 1/2 (which is almost gone after a bit more than 2 months). I was also told that vitamin E helps but I just use Aveeno (have been using it for MANY years long before my first surgery).
