About Me (In My Own Words)
Well, I was 25 when I was diagnosed with mitral valve prolapse. Shortly after I had my 4th child I was admitted to the hospital with CHF. A year later I was then diagnosed with mitral regurgitation. In january 2011 shortly after I quit smoking (go figure) I was back at the ER for shortness of breath and irregular heart rythm. I have since undergone 3 heart caths ( one to try the balloon to open the valve but failed due to regurgitation), and 3 TEE's later I am now discussing valve repair with my surgeon due to the severity of mitral valve stenosis. I have a lot of questions and fears, especially recovery time due to me having 5 children.
