About Me (In My Own Words)
I was diagnosed in 2002 with Mitral Regurgitation. I had my first open heart surgery in 2004 for a mitral valve replacement. But the surgeon was able to repair my mitral with annuloplasty ring.
I was able to recover well after my surgery and medication free six months post surgery.
Fast forward to 2017, I started having some palpitations. And in 2018, the palpitations turned to Afib. Medications did not work, palpitations turned to Afib and Aflutter. Year 2018 I had my first Ablation and it was successful. Then again, 2 years later, in 2020, I am back on Afib. Again medication did not work and had another ablation in 2021. Unfortunately, the last ablation was not as successful as the last one and I'm back on AFIB a month later.
I am currently taking medications to control my heart rate. The last Echo shows moderate mitral regurgitation and severe tricuspid regurgitation. The plan is to go through another open heart surgery to replace (or hopefully repair again) the mitral and repair the tricuspid valves and also fix the AFIB.
Planning to schedule the surgery on March or April 2023.
