About Me (In My Own Words)
I was diagnosed with severe mitral valve regurgitation two years ago and was told I would need to have open heart surgery in the near future. Because I had very few symptoms, I could not wrap my head around open heart surgery, so I put it on the back burner and lived my life. A few months ago I started to have infrequent AFib episodes and it freaked me out. My two cardiologists, one in NY and one in Florida both concurred that I should do the surgery now since my heart except for the mitral valve is in good shape. The thought of open heart surgery made me very anxious so I researched a Dr that does robotic valve surgery. Dr Didi Loulmet will perform robotic surgery on October 18 at NYU Langone. My anxiety has subsided somewhat after reading some of the positive posts and I am so glad to have found this wonderful site.
