About Me (In My Own Words)
I was diagnosed with Mitral Valve Prolapse in my early 30's and was pretty much told that wasn't a big deal and that a lot of women had it. So, 22 years later my MD said that my murmur sounded worse. Sent me for an echo and it came back moderately severe regurgitation. Was told I needed a valve replacement, but to come back in 6 months. Well, I started having some pretty uncomfortable and scary symptoms. So they called me in for another Echo. Well, it came back a lot worse A LOT. So now it is SEVERE Regurgitation and needs to be fixed ASAP. I am really struggling to breath, ankles swollen, and chest pains around my upper left breast. So, we are doing a heart Cath on Thursday to make sure there is no blockage. If there is blockage, they will add a bypass to the surgery. They are thinking that there will be blockage. I had breast cancer 7 years ago and they are concerned that all of the radiation may have had a part in the mitral valve regurgitation. My daughter passed away 2 years ago, and I personally think that is when it got worse:( Truly heartbroken. She was 27 years old and my absolute best friend, my EVERYTHING. The blessing that she did leave me was to continue to raise her daughter and my granddaughter Charlee which is the love of my life. So heart Cath next:)
