About Me (In My Own Words)
Like so many others, I was completely blindsided to find out that I had a valve that required surgery sooner vs later. I had known that I had a heart mummer but it wasn’t until I entered my 50’s that I even considered going to the dr for a routine check up. It was during a routine physical in which I had no complaints that my world was about to be thrown in a loop.
I was asymptomatic and always had excellent health so the news put me in complete denial. It would take months before I entered the acceptance stage.
I was originally scheduled to have surgery mid-March but due to covid, this was pushed back to May. This really didn’t cause me much concern as May was the month I had wanted to tackle this. Now, I am on the other side of surgery and if helpful, I could provide my experience with a no visitation policy (again, darn covid) and a minimally invasive robotic repair.
