About Me (In My Own Words)
My husband, Lixian, was diagnosed with bicuspid aortic valve lately (Jul, 2018). He knows he has heart murmur and aortic insufficiency closure since his 20s, although it did not raise his attention. Because he did not have any symptoms and his doctors said some people might not have any symptoms at all for their whole life.
Lately, he (31-year-old, 2018) is easy to get tired and short of breath. Sometimes he has chest pain. So he did a TEE and it confirms that he has BAV.
We checked my 2-year-old daughter this August also, she does not have BAV.
It takes time for my husband to accept this fact. He regrets that he did not take good care of himself for these 10 years after he knew his heart murmur. He keeps asking why me. But I can tell he is fighting for himself. After his first visit with his doc in June, he started to exercise and loses 20 lbs (190 to 170 lbs) and he is on diet too.
He also does a lot of research about heart valve surgery. So do I. I am here to support him.
Thank you for this site. And thank you all for your time reading our story. I am grateful to find this place.
If you want to chat with Lixian and me about heart valve surgery, we are always available. My email, donghua.cai(AT)outlook.com
