About Me (In My Own Words)
I am writing this on behalf of my father who was diagnosed with aortic and mitral regurgitation. His left atrium and left ventricle have become enlarged and he has decided to undergo surgery to replace the aortic valve; we do not know if the mitral valve will be repaired or replaced. He does not have a lot of symptoms (he coughs a bit if he walks more briskly but other than that he is fine). He seems to be very confident but I am extremely scared of losing him. I am very thankful to Adam and this community as it is the only outlet I have at this point.
01/21 Update: My father underwent surgery in which they replaced his aortic valve and repaired his mitral valve. He spent two nights in ICU and was released to the regular room. He had pneumothorax (collapsed lung) as a consequence of the surgery but it was quickly fixed by the surgical team. His incision was bleeding a little bit as well (mostly due to the anticoagulant he was taking- once they stopped that, the bleeding stopped). He is feeling great and should be released from the hospital in the next few days.
