About Me (In My Own Words)
I'm 74 years old. During first half of July 2022 I was running a low grade fever with no other symptoms other than constantly feeling tired.
I had myself tested for Covid and 3 times the results were negative.
Finally, one day my blood pressure droped to 60/30. My Cardiologist ordered me to go to the Hospital RIGHT AWAY. I was taken by ambulance to Cornell Medical Center in Manhattan. I was there for 13 days and the various tests that they took showed that I had a Group B Strep infection that entered the blood stream. It subsequently damaged the Mitral Valve beyond repair and it had to be replaced.
My familly had me transfered to Cleveland Clinic where Dr Gillinov did the surgery.
I was on Ceftriaxone for 6 weeks post surgery, administered by my wife thru a PICC line.
Today it is going on 6 months since surgery and I am gradually regaining my strength, which they told me in Cleveland could take up to a year.
