About Me (In My Own Words)
This is how my story began. I worked for a primary care provider for 30 years so when I started to have some back pain I ordered a CT scan and discovered I had diverticulitis. My Gastroenterologist forced me to have a colonoscopy and perforated my colon. I had to have emergency surgery and found out I had a heart murmur during this event. 3 years later my boss became ill and passed away. So 64 1/2 years old I was now out of a job. I decided it was time for a health check up. It took awhile but my new PCP decided to send me to a cardiologist. An echo cardiogram was done and at my follow up visit I was informed I had severe mitral valve regurgitation and would need surgery, Left office in disbelief. Put off doing anything about it until my insurance changed to Medicare and began to move forward. I adore my new cardiologist who has helped me find a good surgeon to do a mitral valve repair/or replacement.
