About Me (In My Own Words)
I was born with a heart murmur and every time I go to a doctor they ask, "Do you know you have a heart murmur?" I always say,"Why, yes I do." The truth is that for years I have had no symptoms. The reality is after seeing a cardiologist, I do feel more tired than before but at age 66, I attributed it to the aging process. When he talked about the insidiousness of the changes over time, he got my attention. I decided to follow through with the primary care physician's plans, saw a cardiologist, and did the recommended tests quickly.
I live alone and today, it feels overwhelming but I have plans to build my support team of family and friends one day at a time. I had planned to work until I am 70 years old and now wonder if it is possible. I decided that doing research, praying, planning, and talking to family and friends was a needed step as I prepare. I think this journal is going to be a really good idea for me.
