About Me (In My Own Words)
Gynecologist suggested I get my heart checked which resulted in a surprise diagnosis of severe Mitral Valve Regurgitation early November 2022. Original surgery for repair or replacement of mitral valve was cancelled night before surgery due to complications. I was referred to Mass General. After more testing and consult with Dr. Langer, surgery is now scheduled for January 28, 2022. Suddenness and long wait for surgery has been difficult emotionally.
1/8/2022 - Everything takes longer because I tire easily. I am a sewist and got the idea to make my own patient gowns. It took a couple of weeks but I finally perfected a design. Hoping I can a few more sewn and that I will be allowed to wear them. Hoping the drain pocket and access holes are in the right place. Nervous what it will be like post surgery in ICU, what will my recovery look like, will my pre surgery obesity and lack of activity have a large impact on my recovery? Will I survive?
