About Me (In My Own Words)
I just turned 37 and I am a busy mother of 2.
I have had MVP all my life. I have been very active, completing triathlons, marathons and becoming a fitness instructor. This past summer, I started to be short of breath with minimal activity and woke up gasping for air.
A stress echo revealed severe regurgitation. I had to stop working and cancel my registration in the NYC Marathon. I was very upset about the whole diagnosis.
I had my surgery on December 8 and had a successful repair with a ring. The surgery took 8 hours and I had a hard time with being on bypass for that long.
I am now approaching 10 weeks post-op. I had to have a root canal 3 weeks after surgery, but no other major complications. The best part of the whole process was finding out how many people are out there to help me.
