About Me (In My Own Words)
I was 16 when I had open heart surgery at the Bristol Royal Infirmary, Bristol, England, to stretch my Pulmonary valve. The operation was a complete success! I am now 68, and have been told that my poor old ticker is not so well anymore. It did well though to last this long. I was recently in hospital and they found a couple of problems and apparently I have Heart Failure probably due to the valve beginning to decline. I have pain in my chest which I didn't realise was my heart, and I cannot walk very fast. My little grandson gets behind me and pushes me haha. This is affecting parts of me which I would never have thought a heart problem would cause because my memory is really bad! I have done a little research and found out that because the blood going round my body is not getting to my brain and probably other parts of my body properly, It's just not working properly anymore. I want to see my grandchildren get married, I don't want to go anywhere just yet! I'm going to get in touch with my doctor to see if my damaged valve can be repaired so I can have my life for a little longer. I don't know what they can do for me because I only briefly discussed it when I was in hospital in July of this year.... Watch this space?
