About Me (In My Own Words)
No awareness of the bicuspid till I was almost 40; always athletic, running, cycling, hiking. Was able to keep it all up under a cardiologist's care till 61 when my bicuspid valve started giving out and went from moderate to severe. I was referred to the cath lab where they checked me all out and determined I had NO other issues but the valve. I scheduled my surgery ASAP and because I was bi-cuspid, the less invasive was not an option - the opening for the valve being misshapen. Had open heart to replace the valve with a bovine tissue valve and now working on my recovery.
