About Me (In My Own Words)
I had Hodgkin's Disease when I was 18. I am now 44 with severe aortic stenosis. I'm currently going through testing to determine whether TAVR or open heart is best for me. I am praying for TAVR, as open heart scares me to no end, and being the only one working in my family, time off from teaching (unpaid) causes as much fear as my surgery.
I'd welcome any input on TAVR at my age. Everything I read shows it is being done in young people (they refer to 65 as young in most articles) and am not finding much in its use for my age group.
Tomorrow, (10/28) I see the TAVR team and finish up the last two tests needed for them to make a decision. I'm thankful I found this group.
