About Me (In My Own Words)
My Heart story starts when I was 7 years old. I was diagnosed with a heart murmur back then. We lived in KY. and drove to Nashville for my appointments. I think a lot of my Dr. visits were free because they would have a line of college students come in and listen to my heart and gather around me and talk. Anyway, I was held back from any sports or activities in my school years. I tell people that after school i was the Tasmanian Devil. I was a very hyper person. I did what i wanted to do. Progress to my 20's and I was told that if I had problems, it would be now. I went through my 20's, 30's and 40's with no problems. I would go to the doctor only when I wanted to, or felt i needed to. In my 50's i had a couple of episodes that made me start taking my condition seriously. I found a cardiologist that told me to watch the Left Ventricle measurements. That measurement grew to a 1.38 when the top of the range was a 1.1. This set off the alarm for my heart valve replacement. I had a distorted Aortic Valve, the 1.38 of the Left Ventricle, Aneurysm of ascending aorta without rupture , an enlarged Aorta that had to be shaved during surgery. I am almost 59 and recovering. There are so many details I want to share with you about the surgery and the post-op but need to break for now. I am grateful to be here typing this.
